CAPP History
CAPP ApS is a privately owned company that was established in Denmark in 1984.
Today, it is a brand of AHN Biotechnologie GmbH, located in Central Germany. CAPP has built a reputation as a dependable supplier of liquid handling products worldwide by providing innovative, user-friendly, and globally recognized premium liquid handling equipment. The founder, Jørgen Cappelen, developed the first fully autoclavable pipette for lab technicians at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, which marked the beginning of Cappelen Laboratory Technics, registered as CAPP ApS. Throughout the 1990s, CAPP expanded its distributorship to Canada, UK, and Holland, and it gradually shifted from manual construction of each component to CNC machinery and injection moulding. In 1997, CAPP introduced its cutting-edge CAPPAero pipette with innovative design and ergonomic features. In the 2000s, CAPP added a series of products that complemented and expanded its business in more than 80 countries. In addition to its headquarters in Germany, CAPP provides support to its distributors through representative sales and service offices in the USA, Brazil, China, and India.
In 2016, CAPP ApS acquired AHN Biotechnologie GmbH and moved its production from Denmark to Germany. This acquisition allowed CAPP to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its presence in the global market. By combining the expertise and experience of both companies, CAPP and AHN were able to offer customers a wider range of high-quality liquid handling products and services. The relocation of production to Germany also provided CAPP with a more efficient manufacturing and logistics operation, enabling the company to better serve its customers worldwide.
